My Unc needed a serious laptop upgrade cause he wanted one for his work stuff but also to play games. He dont know a lot about specs, he just said he wanted it to be 'real fast'. I did some research and this MSI Crosshair A16 looked like a beast. It has that new Ryzen 9 and the RTX 5060, so I knew it would handle pretty much anything. I was a little worried it was too much, but he wanted something that would last a long time.
He is totaly blown away. He called me after he set it up and was just talking about how smooth the screen is (that 240Hz I guess). He's been playing his games on max settings with no problem at all. And for his work, he said its super snappy, even with all his spreadsheets and 100 chrome tabs open. The 1TB of storage is also a huge plus, he wont have to delete games all the time. He keeps saying 'this thing is a monster' lol. Def a good pick.

Can't even play World of Warcraft.

The first game I downloaded was WoW, and I can't even play it, the graphics rip, tear, and hitch constantly, and even worse if I use the HDMI to plug in a big monitor, plus the memory usage when just running WoW alone would go up to 80%, there is no reason it should be doing that, unless it's all the bloat ware running in the background, which I tried to get rid of most of it. As far as the Noise Level that was not an issue, and I do like the build, the design allows breathing room so it doesn't overheat, which is very important in a gaming laptop.
I haven't really got a chance to see how well the battery life is, because I've spent the majority of my time just trying to get WoW to run without graphic issues, and because of the graphic issues I am returning it. Here is the deal, I am technical, and I work on computers for a living, but when I buy a computer, that claims to run games with ease, that is what I expect! I shouldn't have to do a ton of stuff to just play a simple game like World of Warcraft, this should work out of the box without tweaking anything. I am giving this a 3 star because I do love the case design, that is an A+, if it weren't for that it would get a 1 star.

Crashes

Its certainly powerful enough. However, its unreliable. It crashes 2-3 times a day for no apparent reason. A big issue for someone trying to use this for work. Coming from a Macbook, its infuriating.
The blue tooth mouse drops out for 15-45 seconds a few times a day as well. The power plug comes out comically easy and the screen goes to black for a full second every time you plug or unplug it. I'm willing to believe these are Windows 11 issues and not MSI's fault, but have no other experience with Windows 11.
The battery seems to last, at most, for 2-3 hours, even though I'm using it for nothing more than audio recording and email.
I haven't noticed the heat. I mostly use this at a desk. The fans are loud and will remain on for a while, easily 5-10 minutes, after the lid has been closed and the computer put in sleep mode.

Aiming for glory

My nephew absolutely loves this laptop since it's one of the rare ones that have QHD resolution (1440p) with 240Hz refresh rate. Plenty of storage for indie games as well at 1TB of storage. The CPU is much stronger than the GPU, so for CPU intensive games, it'll be perfect. That's not the say you can't run GPU intensive games since you'll still have a RTX 5060. Performance will be boosted by the powerhouse of a CPU. Very portable laptop with its thin design which is convenient for my nephew when he comes over to LAN party with the family.
