This is a great laptop for work/school productivity tasks which it can handle with ease. Without a higher end GPU, it could not play any of the graphically intense modern games. This is predominantly a function of its ARM CPU, which is radically different from things like Intel or AMD x86 architecture. It is not really compatible with games built for the x86 style processor, though it runs older games well in its built in emulation. The battery life for is pretty good. The description states almost 35 hours though I don't believe it will last quite that long. You can easily go all day on this but not that 35 hours. I ran it with pretty heavy use for about 5-6 hours and it went from 100% down to 50%. That would give it about 10-12 hours of battery life. Perhaps that estimate will change once it's been charged up and fully discharged a few times to calibrate the % better.
It has a nice feel, and seems sturdy and well made. My normal laptop has a 16 inch screen, and this little 14 inch one feels tiny by comparison. The hinged lid also feels sturdy. The keyboard (which does not have a numeric keypad) has a good feel when typing. It is not backlighted, so if you type in the dark, you are out of luck. Graphics are good, with 2K resolution (1920x1200) and good for productivity tasks like document editing, spreadsheets, etc. This particular model does not have a touchscreen.
The cpu is great considering its low power consumption. The ARM architecture Snapdragon X-X1-26-100 by Qualcomm benchmarks at 16,309 (Passmark score), with a single thread rating at 2869. It has 8 cores and 8 threads. This is comparable to an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, but with less power consumption. It is about the same as a high-end business class laptop of a few years ago. It cannot play high-end 4K video well because of its ARM CPU architecture, but plays videos at its built in 2K resolution just fine.
For the installation and setup, Microsoft Windows 11 Home Edition comes pre-installed. During setup, Microsoft removed the option to setup without WiFi and without a Microsoft account, but there are ways around that if you value your privacy. I install a lot of apps and large software packages and am hoping I can upgrade the M.2 NVME SSD. I understand from searches that you can swap out the drive (don't quote me), but not the memory, as it is soldered onto the board. From first power-up to being able to open a browser and surf the net took me about 1 minute of total setup set-up time in several 10 second increments and 10-15 minutes of waiting around in between and for updates - about average.

Amazing laptop for everything but gaming…

It has AI features which I was pretty surprised about, and it handles Windows 11 quite well. I’m planning for this to be used as a work computer, and it already excels at that.
The Good:
- Keyboard feels fantastic.
- The CPU runs like a beast. I could open up 30 tabs all at once with no issues.
- Network connectivity is solid.
- With nowadays pricing for building a pc, this is quite affordable for what you’re getting. (Back before the price increase on hardware, you could build a much better desktop for the same price, but not today.)
- Not too heavy either! Very lightweight laptop.
The Ok:
- The screen on the Omnibook 3 is decent, not great, but ok overall. I do like how it has a semi-non-reflective surface, so it’s easier using it around sunlight, compared to glossier displays out there. It is only 14 inches, and as someone going from 16 to 14, it makes a big difference.
- Since I usually have my laptop plugged in the majority of the time, I can’t fully speak to the full extent of the battery life, but for the time I had it unplugged, it lasted long enough!
- Ports are good enough, but seem limited similar to that of a MacBook Pro. It is nice that they included two USB-A ports and a HDMI port though!
The Bad:
- Gaming is terrible on this thing… Every “Arm” specific title can only be run at the lowest settings… As you’ll see in the pictures, the scores are absolutely horrendous for any heavy GPU tasks. (Don’t expect to do video editing and rendering on this laptop.)
- Trackpad feels a bit rough. Compared to the trackpad on my Mac, it’s definitely something to get used to.
- If you are using this on your lap, it does indeed get fairly hot, especially running heavier tasks on it.
Overall, this laptop pc will suit your needs if you are not a heavy gamer, and are purely looking for a laptop to work on and take advantage of the AI features HP has to offer on the Omnibook 3.

Onmibook 3 has my attention

The screen impressed me when I first saw it. That 16:10 ratio makes things look larger, it's definitely great for productivity at just 14' too, it feels like a 16'. The 2k resolution is the cherry on top, although I can't recommend this display for some content creators where color accuracy is required - 65% color accuracy which is not that great, but that doesn't matter if you are making spreadsheets or running business software.
16 GB RAM in the AI boom ram shortage is welcome. Though it's sad to say that sitting idle at the desktop at boot uses half of that. I'm not sure if that is due to the Arm version of Windows or just the ram vampire that is Windows. In any case, the ram is lightning fast. I would like to try Fedora Linux on it when Qualcomm X1 devices get greater support.
512GB storage. It's an NVME m.2 2280 drive. Exactly what I would expect to see as this price range. I don't have any spare M.2 drives to test out in here, but it's nice that you can actually do that if you wish, it's one of the only things you can do in the laptop besides changing the battery, as everything else is soldered on the main board.
Battery is 4330mAh but it will power this laptop for days if you do exactly nothing. That's great for on the box marketing, real world use says otherwise. You can get a full day out of this if you're using it heavy, 2 days out of it if you're using it lightly, and about 4 hours or less out of it if you're playing a demanding title gaming.
Gaming, yes I naturally had to try it. I don't have any AAA titles, and I don't know if it can run Crysis lol, but I did play Rocket League and it was a very smooth and fast experience. I might try Need For Speed: Heat on it later, that would definitely bring this laptop to its limits. I know that some software can have issues with the Arm processor so keep that in mind, but it is far more graphically capable than people make it out to be, it's not a GTX 1660ti but maybe half of that. 10 year old games will run great on this providing they will run on Arm. Not too shabby for a business class Ultrabook.
The shell of this laptop is very nice and rigid, covered in metal for the screen, a uni-hinge that seems robust, and rounded corners. It's got some weight to it, but it's not too heavy. Weight is sometimes an indicator of quality. Charging is USB C and is fast with the included charger.
Price is a little high on here, I feel like this should be in the $800 range, not peaking a grand, but times are tough and RAM is high. You get a very nice, durable, battery champ laptop with a great screen, great camera, great speakers and performance. It's a beast of a laptop with excellent computational power and decent graphical capabilities. It is not a gaming laptop though and you should look for a different laptop if that is your objective.

Not a bad laptop but…

The screen is sharp and clear, and that little extra resolution really makes a difference. The weight isn’t terrible, but it’s back heavy making actual lap use a bit cumbersome for me. In my experience the battery life, while miles ahead of my other windows laptops, is nowhere near as good as the M1 MacBook. That’s probably because this thing has a monster of a processor. This is well suited for some surprisingly beefy local AI tasks, putting it in a special class.
While the processor is super powerful there are issues. Unfortunately snapdragon support is still a mess in windows. While the translation layer usually works, when it doesn’t you’ll be baffled with inexplicable errors or worse nothing at all. For some reason Firefox, when downloaded from the windows store, installed the wrong version and flat out refused to function. Once I got the right version downloaded manually though it ran beautifully. Once I decided to push this newish CPU to its limits I was surprised to hear a fan kick in. Apparently these still can run quite warm, I actually found it to be uncomfortably warm on the lap while doing intense work. While it’s usually cool doing basic tasks, these things still might overheat if you use it on a bed or blanket.
Overall this computer is frustrating. On the one hand it has some really impressive capabilities that put it at the bleeding edge. On the other hand, you’re going to be dealing with a lot of troubleshooting obscure problems if you try to take advantage of this computer. The price is my biggest issue. This is priced like a business workstation laptop but with the lack of support and stability it is flatly unsuitable for most businesses, who need things to work reliably or at least predictably. The mechanical design is weak as well with iffy weight distribution and some uncomfortably hot spots on the back.

Excellent, cool-running companion laptop for everyday use

I had no problems at all with the ARM processor. Almost all the apps I use have ARM-native install options, and the few that don't seem to run perfectly well under emulation. While heavy emulation could theoretically drain the battery faster, I've found very few instances where I even need to rely on it. As for the heavily advertised native AI capabilities, having Microsoft Copilot integrated as a pervasive user experience layer is convenient, though it currently feels very lightweight compared to interactions with tools like Gemini or ChatGPT. I am open to it and see the potential as the feature set expands, but it's not the primary draw just yet.
It's important to understand exactly where this fits into a workflow. This isn't sufficiently powerful to replace a heavy-duty daily driver; I still use my school-issued XPS 17 for work and a Zenbook A16 for intense personal projects. I wouldn't try to run any compute- or graphics-intensive workloads on this machine—that would be asking too much.
Where it absolutely shines is as a general household companion. It's perfect for taking in the car for a trip to the library or Starbucks. I find myself using it constantly around the house—whether it's propped up in the kitchen browsing recipes while I'm cooking, or serving as a portable screen for watching instructional videos when I'm figuring out a plumbing issue, doing electrical work, or tackling a repair on my '86 F150. For these everyday tasks, it’s a fantastic, highly portable machine.

Sleek and powerful with excellent battery life

I was pleasantly surprised when I began to use this Omnibook and saw just how snappy it is. It boots very quickly and resumes from a sleep state almost instantly.
The laptop is small and compact making it very portable and easily fits in my backpack. The build quality is very good, the materials have a premium feel and the opening and closing is very smooth. I really like the very large trackpad, it's responsive and easy to use. The backlit keyboard is really nice as well.
The battery life is nothing short of excellent, making this a perfect option for a college student or the professional who is frequently on the go. I assume this is because that Snapdragon ARM processor sips power vs a traditional processor. It also charges very quickly.
The display is sharp and crisp and I really like the 1920X1200 size, gives a bit more screen real estate to work with.
A bit of bloatware was installed out of the box but nothing too bad and this is to be expected.
While this is not a laptop suitable for gaming, video editing or rendering, this is an excellent option for a student, professional or anyone else who needs a laptop for web-surfing, email, business applications, content consumption, etc.. this is an excellent option with it's great performance, excellent battery life and small, solid compact design perfect for anyone looking for a highly mobile laptop.

Great choice for typical laptop needs

It is based around the Snapdragon X chip (which compares quite nicely against the Intel I5) and works quite well. The built‑in AI features are still something I’m climbing the learning curve on but so far this seems to work very well. The initial signup process is pretty long and you have to watch what you give approval to.
The 2K display is one of my favorite parts of this machine. It’s bright, crisp, and just really easy on the eyes whether I’m working, streaming, or browsing. . One nice thing HP did is put the USB C power plug, standard USB, and HDMI ports all on the same side. As I have a hub and external display plugged in, make it nice to have all cords just on one side of the laptop.
Performance‑wise, the combination of 16GB RAM and the 512GB SSD keeps everything running smoothly. I haven’t run into any slowdowns with everyday tasks, and the SSD is fast enough that boot times and file transfers feel very quick. I only wish they would have put in a larger HD, but I can always get an external drive if this proves to be a limiation. The Qualcomm Adreno GPU isn’t meant for heavy gaming, but it handles casual games, streaming, and graphics‑heavy websites without any issues.
Battery life is a real strong point. With this hardware combination, I can work on a long flight plus have some office power left on a single charge. It’s the kind of laptop you can take out without worrying about carrying a charger everywhere.
Build quality feels solid and modern — lightweight but not flimsy. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the trackpad is responsive and smooth. It’s a great everyday laptop for productivity, travel, and general use.
Overall, I’m really happy with the HP OmniBook 3. It’s fast, quiet, portable, and has a beautiful display. If you’re looking for a next‑gen Windows laptop with excellent battery life and a super smooth user experience, this one is definitely worth considering.

It is based around the Snapdragon X chip (which compares quite nicely against the Intel I5) and works quite well. The built‑in AI features are still something I’m climbing the learning curve on but so far this seems to work very well. The initial signup process is pretty long and you have to watch what you give approval to.
The 2K display is one of my favorite parts of this machine. It’s bright, crisp, and just really easy on the eyes whether I’m working, streaming, or browsing. . One nice thing HP did is put the USB C power plug, standard USB, and HDMI ports all on the same side. As I have a hub and external display plugged in, make it nice to have all cords just on one side of the laptop.
Performance‑wise, the combination of 16GB RAM and the 512GB SSD keeps everything running smoothly. I haven’t run into any slowdowns with everyday tasks, and the SSD is fast enough that boot times and file transfers feel very quick. I only wish they would have put in a larger HD, but I can always get an external drive if this proves to be a limiation. The Qualcomm Adreno GPU isn’t meant for heavy gaming, but it handles casual games, streaming, and graphics‑heavy websites without any issues.
Battery life is a real strong point. With this hardware combination, I can work on a long flight plus have some office power left on a single charge. It’s the kind of laptop you can take out without worrying about carrying a charger everywhere.
Build quality feels solid and modern — lightweight but not flimsy. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the trackpad is responsive and smooth. It’s a great everyday laptop for productivity, travel, and general use.
Overall, I’m really happy with the HP OmniBook 3. It’s fast, quiet, portable, and has a beautiful display. If you’re looking for a next‑gen Windows laptop with excellent battery life and a super smooth user experience, this one is definitely worth considering.

Great Laptop, but not so compatible with Steam is it's one fault

The 2K display looks sharp and bright, battery life is excellent, and Windows 11 feels very responsive for web browsing, streaming, office work, and lighter productivity tasks. The laptop stays cool and quiet, and the lightweight design makes it easy to carry around.
I give it 4 stars overall because compatibility with some older PC games is still hit or miss on ARM Windows systems—I really wish it could run Fallout 3 on Steam properly. Aside from that limitation, it’s a fast, modern laptop that offers a lot of value for the money.
