What? I can’t hear you!!

So far so good, with the exception of the speaker. Wow, nothing I can do to make it loud enough so I have to use AirPods to get decent sound. Other than that, I’m very pleased with the functionality. Item of note…used to be that you got a free year of the Microsoft suite with a new computer- now it’s a month. Oh well, I guess that’s why it has such a good price.

Much More Capable Than a Typical Thin-and-Light Laptop

The more I've used it, the more impressed I've become with what this Snapdragon-based Windows laptop can actually do.
The Snapdragon X platform was one of the main reasons I was interested in it. Windows on ARM has matured considerably, and most of what I've wanted to run has worked without much drama. I installed native ARM64 Node.js and was able to install and use development tools including the Codex CLI. I also use Tailscale, which is working properly on the laptop and allows me to incorporate it into my home lab with several other computers.
Where this became particularly interesting to me was local AI. The Snapdragon includes Qualcomm's Hexagon NPU, and I wanted to see whether I could actually make use of that hardware rather than treating 'AI PC' as just something printed on the box. Microsoft Foundry Local has been especially useful for experimenting with local models, and I've been able to get the system running with its Qualcomm QNN NPU support. This is an important distinction because not every Windows AI application automatically takes advantage of the NPU. Some applications may still run models through the CPU or another execution path unless they specifically support the Qualcomm hardware.
I've also been very happy with its peripheral compatibility. I'm currently using the OmniBook successfully through an HP USB-C Dock G5, and that setup has worked flawlessly for me. I've also connected an additional 14-inch USB-C portable monitor without a problem. For a thin laptop that I expect to move between portable and desktop use, being able to connect it to a dock and external displays without fighting with compatibility issues is a big plus.
General performance has been very good for what I use it for. It feels responsive, and having an efficient ARM processor plus dedicated NPU makes this a much more interesting machine than I initially expected, particularly for experimenting with ARM-native software and local AI workloads.
Setup wasn't completely pristine. Windows and HP included a fair amount of preloaded/promotional software that I removed, followed by the usual Windows Update and HP Support Assistant updates. After getting everything cleaned up and updated, though, the system has been stable.
There are also two hardware omissions worth knowing about: this model does not have a touchscreen, and the keyboard is not backlit. Neither prevents me from using the laptop for what I bought it for, but both are features someone might reasonably expect to find on a modern thin-and-light laptop, so they're worth pointing out.
What has impressed me most is that this hasn't ended up being just another lightweight laptop in my collection. I've been able to turn it into an active part of my home lab, use it with my existing HP dock and external monitor, run development tools on ARM64, access other systems through Tailscale, and experiment with locally running AI models and the dedicated Qualcomm NPU.
For someone who only needs web browsing and everyday productivity, much of that capability may never be noticed. For me, though, exploring what this Snapdragon Windows platform can do has been one of the most interesting parts of owning it. It has proven considerably more capable and versatile than I expected.

Strong Battery Life and Vibrant OLED Display, But Upgrades Are Limited

This model is not a convertible and does not feature a touchscreen. It may take a few days to break the habit of touching the display to pinch and zoom or scroll. Additionally, while the OmniBook 3 series offers backlit keyboard options, this specific configuration lacks one.
In terms of physical layout, USB-C ports are located exclusively on the left side. Because my couch setup has the charging cable coming from the right, I have to route the cord under the laptop while plugged in. However, because the battery easily lasts 3 to 4 days on lightweight tasks, it rarely needs to stay plugged in. The included tiny GaN charger is a great touch.
Performance and thermals are solid improvements over my old setup. My previous Google Pixelbook ran very hot, but the Snapdragon X ARM processor in this laptop stays much cooler during use.
I use a Wi-Fi 7 mesh router at home, but this laptop is equipped with a Qualcomm Wi-Fi 6E module. As a result, it connects to the 6GHz spectrum, but it cannot support Multi-Link Operation (MLO) or connect to multiple frequency bands simultaneously. This is still fine for my use-case which is mostly browsing.
While this laptop lacks a fingerprint scanner, it does have IR Facial Recognition along with a physical slider to cover the camera. Having a built-in 3.5mm audio jack is also a welcome feature.
Windows 11 ARM generally works fine with existing installers, but I did run into issues with a few apps that needed a specific ARM download instead of the x64 download. That is just something to be aware of.

Fast, Efficient, and Incredible Battery Life

Excellent display, fast performance with the Snapdragon processor, and the best battery life I've ever had on a laptop. Great alternative to the MacBook Neo and at a cheaper price on Windows 11 ARM (just like the regular Win11). I'd give this a strong recommendation for any student going back to school this Fall as it should provide everything they need and will last for many years to come. RAM is uber-expensive these days and this configuration provides an adequate 16gb of it, so that should be plenty for schoolwork and most games.
Upon receiving this laptop, I charged it overnight and it's still at 60% battery after nearly a full week of very light use w/o having to charge it again. This battery is legit. Our last laptop lasted like 3-4 hours and now needs to be permanently plugged in to function, so this is an incredible upgrade. As far as setting up, it was easier than expected. Laptops of the past had so many pre-installed bloatware, but this only had McAfee AV. That took about 30 seconds to uninstall, and it was replaced by another app I already owned (Malwarebytes). There wasn't much more to do other than that but to install iCloud and setup the Edge browser with my usual favorite bookmarks.
As far as being an 'AI PC', that's more marketing speak. Any laptop can run AI in the cloud and the more ram you have, the quicker it is to run AI locally. With the speedy components this laptop provides, I guess you can call it AI-Ready. They mention Otter.AI in the details, but all they do is give you a 30-day free trial. Stick with CoPilot or whatever AI tool you are already paying for. Get this laptop if you're on a budget, want the best value laptop, and one that should last for several years and still keep up with the latest software.

A lightweight, fast Windows laptop with a great screen, but it runs hot

I chose this laptop to use as a family laptop for everyday tasks like homework, browsing, and light gaming, and so far it has handled that well.
Out of the box, the build quality is solid and the laptop is noticeably lightweight, which makes it easy to move around the house. The silver finish looks clean and not overly flashy.
The display is the standout feature here. It does appear to be a true OLED panel, with excellent brightness and color in normal indoor lighting, and no glare issues. Typing is comfortable with good key travel, and the trackpad tracks well with a satisfying click.
Performance for everyday use, browsing, email, documents, and multiple tabs, has been fast and smooth. I haven't run into any app compatibility problems so far, which is worth noting since this laptop uses a Snapdragon (ARM) processor rather than a traditional Intel or AMD chip. Roblox, which is our household's main game, has run without issue. Heavier or less common software may still see occasional friction on this platform, so it's worth checking compatibility for anything specific you rely on.
Setup was fairly quick and easy, aside from repeated wifi disconnections while trying to log into my Windows account. I'm not certain if that was the laptop or my network, since none of my other devices had issues during that same window, but it's worth flagging in case others run into it. Wifi has been stable since setup finished.
Battery life has been strong so far. After a few hours of use, it was still above 70 percent. Fast charging lives up to the claim too, charging noticeably quickly.
Ports are generous for a laptop this size: two USB-C, two USB-A, one HDMI, and a headphone jack. I tested all four USB ports and everything worked without issue.
The one real downside is heat. This laptop runs hot, and because the fans are on the bottom, I've found I need to prop it up to keep airflow going and keep the temperature manageable. If you plan to use this on your lap for extended periods, that's worth knowing going in.
